Nationally there are about 38.2 private electric cars for every public charge point — in Donegal that figure is 20.6. Public charging is a backup. Donegal sits in Region 7 of the national Regional and Local EV Charging Network Plan 2025–2030, which sets the county a public charging capacity target of 5,724 kW in 2025 rising to 18,716 kW by 2030. As of September 2026 we could not find a separate published Donegal EV charging strategy — so for now, the public network here is governed by the national plan rather than a local one.
