Nationally there are about 38.2 private electric cars for every public charge point — in Galway that figure is 29.3. Public charging is a backup. Galway sits in Region 7 of the national Regional and Local EV Charging Network Plan 2025–2030, which sets the county a public charging capacity target of 9,234 kW in 2025 rising to 30,792 kW by 2030.
